The Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA) is revolutionizing the South African media landscape with the introduction of new broadcast studios at uMgungundlovu Community Radio station in Pietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-Natal. On August 11, the unveiling of the state-of-the-art studios will take place, bringing a new era for the station and enhancing the quality of its broadcasts.

uMgungundlovu Community Radio station was established as a voluntary association in 2006, formally registered in 2008 as an NPO. The station’s motto, “the Sound of Choice for the Capital of KwaZulu-Natal,” reflects its commitment to quality programming. The station broadcasts programs in isiZulu (81%), English (16%), Afrikaans (1%), and other languages (2%), operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Ms. Nothando Sibiya, the Station Manager, highlights the importance of uMgungundlovu Community Radio as a platform for better communication, exchange of development ideas, and debate.
