According to the latest StatsSA Quarterly Labour Force survey for April to June 2023, the city has added a staggering 263,000 new positions in just one year, with 56,000 new opportunities created in the last quarter alone. Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis is determined to maintain this momentum by eliminating load-shedding over time and investing a record R43 billion in infrastructure over three years. The city’s labor absorption rate (percentage of employed working-age population) has surpassed pre-Covid levels, indicating that the labor market has not only recovered but is also experiencing positive growth.

This initiative prepares individuals for roles in emerging and high-growth industries, such as the green economy, call centers, tourism, and clothing and textiles.
