In a remarkable show of unity and expertise, a multi-disciplinary team made up of law enforcement officers and private security personnel in South Africa’s Eastern Cape province recently apprehended ten suspects involved in a bold robbery at a Gqeberha jewelry store. At approximately 9:45 PM, a white VW Polo carrying five of the suspects was stopped roughly 10 kilometers before Cradock. Law enforcement officers arrested the occupants and seized two firearms. Shortly thereafter, a maroon VW Polo transporting the remaining five suspects was also intercepted, resulting in more arrests, the recovery of two additional firearms, and the stolen jewelry.

The suspects, aged between 24 and 37 years old, now face charges of illegal possession of firearms and possession of suspected stolen property. As detectives carry on with their investigation into the robbery, more charges may be brought forward. Crime Intelligence Eastern Cape has verified that the arrested individuals are part of a larger syndicate connected to robberies in Gauteng, North West, and other crimes in KZN.
