Rugby coach Russell Winter, a vital member of the Bulls coaching team, has decided to leave the Pretoria-based franchise after three and a half seasons. Winter will now join the Kubota Spears, a Japanese rugby team, to embark on a new adventure.

Since joining the Bulls in 2020, Winter has been a crucial part of the coaching staff, working as the forwards coach under Director of Rugby Jake White. His nickname “Cuz” reflects the positive relationships he built with players and staff, making him a leading mentor in the team. Winter’s tenure in Tshwane brought notable success to the franchise, with two Currie Cup titles and the Super Rugby Unlocked championship. Winter’s experience playing in Europe proved invaluable as the Bulls embarked on their European quest.
