The Mandate of the New Constables

The primary mission of the new constables is to prevent and combat any activity that threatens the safety and security of any community, investigate crimes, ensure offenders are brought to justice, and participate in efforts to address the root causes of crime at an institutional level. They are expected to maintain professionalism and a solution-oriented approach while carrying out their duties.

Challenges and Encouragement for the New Constables

The new constables will face challenges while carrying out their duties. They may encounter demoralizing situations, but they must remain committed, valiant, selfless, disciplined, and exhibit integrity when responding to real-life crime situations. They are encouraged to learn from their mentors and role models and strive to make a positive difference in their communities.

The Role of the Community Policing Forums and Collaboration

The newly inducted constables will work closely with communities to understand their needs and devise strategies to combat crime effectively. They will collaborate with various components of the SAPS and the Free State Provincial Government to build a united front against crime.

Targeted Efforts to Protect Vulnerable Communities

The Premier of Free State Province, Mxolisi Dukwana, emphasized the need to protect women, children, the elderly, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community from crimes directed at them. The collaboration with Community Policing Forums will aid in devising targeted efforts for these vulnerable communities.

A Safer and Secure South Africa

As the nation prepares to commemorate National Women’s Day on 9th August 2023, the inclusion of these new constables and the launch of Operation Shanela promise a safer and secure environment for all citizens. The new chapter in South Africa’s policing, marked by the infusion of fresh talent and the unveiling of vital crime-fighting initiatives, strengthens the resolve of the citizens and the police force to stand firm against crime and work together to create a secure, democratic society.
