South African midfielder Haashim Domingo, once linked to Kaizer Chiefs, has now joined Moroccan football giants, Raja Club Athletic. Domingo’s recent transfer comes after a challenging period with Mamelodi Sundowns, where inconsistent game time due to injuries held him back from showcasing his full potential.
Although Chiefs initially showed interest in Domingo, the club’s football manager, Kaizer Motaung Jr, went silent on the matter. Despite the fact that no transfer fee would have been required to secure the midfielder’s move, the reason for Motaung’s silence remains a mystery.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Domingo’s agent, Lance Davids, confirmed Chiefs’ initial interest and Domingo’s ambition to play overseas again. The midfielder’s journey began on the international stage with Portuguese club Vitoria Guimaraes’ youth ranks before returning to South Africa.
Davids revealed that they received multiple offers from local clubs for Domingo. However, upon exploring every available market, Domingo was set on joining Raja Club Athletic when the opportunity presented itself.
