Policies to Accommodate Residents

The City’s policies are designed to accommodate residents with varying income levels, ensuring that everyone has access to necessary services. Officials encourage residents in financial difficulty to visit their nearest customer care office to determine if they qualify for assistance.

Rates and Services Relief

Pensioners 60 years or older and people who receive social grants with a total monthly income of not more than R17,500 may qualify for a rates rebate between 10% and 100%. Interested individuals may contact the City via email or visit their nearest customer care office to learn about the application process.

Rental Housing Relief

Residents who rent a community residential unit from the City and struggle to pay monthly rent may be eligible for additional financial support through rental housing relief. The Human Settlements Directorate’s Call Centre offers assistance in this regard via phone or WhatsApp.

Flexible Payment Arrangements

The City provides support in devising a suitable payment plan for residents who require flexible payment arrangements. Residents can visit the official website or email the relevant department to discuss and arrange such plans.
