The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NatJOINTS) has pledged complete dedication to ensuring the 2023 Netball World Cup is safe and secure for all. The NatJOINTS, consisting of various government departments led by the South African Police Service (SAPS), the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), and the State Security Agency (SSA), has been working diligently on the security plans for the event.
A priority committee under the NatJOINTS umbrella has been working closely with Netball SA, the Department of Sports Arts and Culture, and the City of Cape Town to establish a comprehensive security plan. The plan aims to minimize the probability of incidents occurring before, during, and after the World Cup, as well as ensure a swift and effective response to any potential incidents.
To provide a secure and enjoyable experience for all, a multilayered security approach will be implemented. This includes team security, accommodation security, route security, city security, venue security, and crowd management.
A heightened police presence will be maintained throughout the event, with officers on foot and vehicle patrols in all identified areas. This increased law enforcement visibility will enhance day-to-day policing during the event.
Traffic disruptions around the venue are anticipated due to the expected large number of delegates. Motorists are advised to be prepared for street closures and restricted traffic flow. Access to restricted areas will only be granted to accredited individuals and vehicles.
The NatJOINTS-led priority committee has left no stone unturned in their mission to guarantee a safe and secure 2023 Netball World Cup. Thanks to their unwavering commitment and meticulous planning, all attendees can look forward to enjoying a thrilling and memorable World Cup experience.
