A Talented Young Dancer to Represent South Africa at the Hip Hop Unite World Championships

Micah Jacobs is an exceptional dancer from Mitchells Plain who is set to represent South Africa in the Youth Solo Battles Division at the Hip Hop Unite World Championships in Portugal. Despite being only 11 years old, Micah has already demonstrated her talent for dance, which was noticed when she was just 7.

Micah’s Journey

Micah began her dance journey at the [Youth Development Academy](https://capetown.today/national-youth-development-agency-a-leader-in-youth-empowerment), where she gained expertise in dance and caught the attention of the South African Sports Aerobics and Fitness Federation (SASAFF). Her talent landed her a spot on the South African team for the Hip Hop Unite World Championships, which will take place from 26 to 28 October 2023.

Micah’s Coach

Micah’s coach, Kim Cassels, played a significant role in her success. Cassels, who owns the Young Dreamers Academy, will accompany Micah to Portugal and will earn SASAFF colours for her efforts.

Micah’s Family

Micah’s mother, Nicolette Jacobs-Smith, expressed the immense pride their family feels for her achievements in an interview with the Weekend Argus. Micah’s passion for hip hop dates back to her early school days, which was nurtured by her coach.

Financial Challenges

Despite their pride, the family is facing financial challenges in supporting Micah’s once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. While they have raised R10,000, the total cost of the trip is R30,000. Despite the hurdle, Jacobs-Smith remains optimistic and describes her daughter as a positive, resilient young girl with a smile that leaves an impact.
