The North West Office of the Premier is collaborating with the National Anti-Corruption Advisory Council (NACAC) to host a Provincial Anti-Corruption Roadshow in Matlosana Local Municipality. This initiative is part of the South African government’s ongoing efforts to combat corruption and promote transparency.
NACAC is a council of nine members with diverse expertise in anti-corruption appointed by State President Cyril Ramaphosa in August 2022 for a three-year term. Its mandate is to work closely with the South African government and social partners in the fight against corruption.
The roadshow has a dual purpose: to introduce the Council to stakeholders and to seek provincial partnership in implementing the Anti-Corruption Strategy. The event brings together various stakeholders, including the South African Police Service, The Hawks, and the Special Investigating Unit.
On Wednesday, 30 August 2023, a motorcade procession will traverse Klerksdorp, stopping at designated locations to conduct an Anti-Corruption awareness campaign for the community. The media has been invited to cover these activities, and the main event will be streamed live on the Office of the Premier’s social media platforms.
Acting Premier of the North West Province, Patrick Dumile Nono Maloyi, is scheduled to address the roadshow, which will take place on Thursday, 31 August 2023, at the Rio Hotel in Klerksdorp.
The partnership between the North West Office of the Premier and NACAC highlights the importance of a collaborative approach in tackling pervasive corruption. The Provincial Anti-Corruption Roadshow also signifies the government’s willingness to engage with its citizens, opening a much-needed dialogue on topics such as transparency, integrity, and ethical governance.
The roadshow serves as a platform for discussion and encourages participants to share their insights and ideas on how corruption can be eradicated, helping to create a collective strategy. Additionally, these events serve to educate the public about the role and function of agencies such as the South African Police Service, The Hawks, and the Special Investigating Unit.
The Provincial Anti-Corruption Roadshow in Matlosana represents a commendable initiative aimed at tackling corruption in South Africa. Through strategic partnerships and open dialogue, the government and its stakeholders can work together in fostering a transparent and accountable society. By raising awareness and educating the public on anti-corruption measures, the roadshow not only empowers citizens but also strengthens the collective resolve to eradicate this pervasive issue.
