The Africa Communications Week is an annual event aimed at enhancing communication in Africa. The 2023 edition of the event will be hosted by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) in South Africa, with participation from 20 countries in the continent.
During the May 2023 event, communication professionals and thought leaders will converge to discuss and explore innovative ways to accelerate communication in Africa. The theme of the event is “Agenda 2063, The Africa We Want,” which will focus on the impact of current narratives in Africa and how they can be transformed through effective communication.
One of the key topics that will be discussed during the Africa Communications Week is the Africa Free Trade Area agreement. Communication professionals will explore ways to effectively communicate the benefits of this agreement to the public. Another area of focus will be the use of traditional and new media platforms to communicate effectively with different audiences.
The Africa Communications Week will be officially opened by key stakeholders and partners, including CSIR, Brand SA, Wits University, Constitution Hill, and GCIS. These organizations will present on various themes and highlight the importance of innovation in accelerating communication in Africa.
The Africa Communications Week will take place over three days and three different venues. The first event will be held at The National School of Government (NSG) in Pretoria, followed by an event at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg, and the final event will take place at Freedom Park Heritage Site & Museum in Pretoria.
Participants are encouraged to RSVP to Ms. Mpho Phatudi or Mr. Ayanda Hollow for more information on the event. The Africa Communications Week promises to deliver valuable insights and engaging conversations that will contribute significantly to the future of Africa’s communications landscape.
