Arrests for Illegal Possession of Ammunition

The AGU continued their relentless pursuit of justice in Forest Village, where they apprehended a 35-year-old man for illegally possessing ammunition. A search of his residence led to the discovery of a magazine and five rounds of ammunition. Further investigations led them to another suspect connected with a recent shooting. The 33-year-old man was found with a 9mm Pistol and nine rounds of ammunition, leading to his arrest for possession of an unlicensed firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.

Apprehension of a Minor

A 16-year-old suspect was found in possession of a .38 Special revolver with its serial number removed. After a comprehensive search of his residence in Mevede Street, Belhar, the suspect was apprehended and charged with possession of a prohibited firearm.

Crackdown on Drug-Related Offenses

The AGU also focused on drug-related offenses, leading them to Saint Vincent Drive, Belhar, where they arrested a 24-year-old male. Upon searching the premises, they found 50 whole Mandrax tablets, 19 sachets containing tik, 10 different caliber rounds of ammunition, and R640 in cash. The suspect faces charges of dealing in drugs and illegal possession of ammunition.

Arrest of Wanted Suspect

During a tracing operation, AGU members arrested a 37-year-old man in Helshoogte Street, Belhar, who was wanted in connection with an attempted murder case reported in May. The suspect is due to appear in court soon, along with the other individuals apprehended in these operations.

Building a Safer Future

The AGU’s operational successes serve as a beacon of hope for the people of South Africa in the fight against escalating gang violence. By dismantling the infrastructure that allows criminal networks to thrive, the AGU is playing a crucial role in building a safer future for the nation. With the support and cooperation of the community, the AGU will continue to make strides in addressing the menace of gangs, firearms, and drugs, working tirelessly to ensure that the streets of South Africa become a safer place for all.
