Athlone Stadium, known for its association with soccer, is making history by hosting its second Currie Cup rugby match on Friday, 26 May 2023. The match day schedule begins with the curtain raiser event, featuring the DHL Western Province Ladies taking on the Lions Ladies at 14:30. The main event, DHL Western Province versus the ADT Fidelity Lions, kicks off at 17:00. Tickets for the unreserved seating are priced at R50 each and can be purchased from Ticketpro.

Parking and Access

General parking is available at P3 and P4, accessible via Hickory Street from Klipfontein Road. Spectators approaching the stadium from Vanguard Drive (Jakes Gerwil) or M5 direction are also advised to use the same parking areas.

Last week’s match, which was the first rugby match to be held at this stadium, went well, so we are looking forward to Friday night.”

He said, “This is a rugby weekend for Capetonians, and the Currie Cup is one of the most prestigious events on the rugby calendar. I want to encourage all Capetonians to come out on Friday night to support our Western Province players at Athlone Stadium and show your ‘gees’.”
