Clarifying the Validity of the SASSA Gold Card

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) Mpumalanga region has recently cleared up rumors regarding the SASSA gold card’s expiration date. This clarification states that beneficiaries can continue using their cards until 31 December 2023. By doing so, SASSA hopes to ease the panic and confusion that has caused large crowds to flock to their offices, seeking reassurance about their financial support.

The Importance of the SASSA Gold Card

The SASSA gold card is a crucial resource for the Mpumalanga region’s 1,594,478 social assistance beneficiaries, with almost half of them using it to receive their grants. These funds can be accessed through various channels, including cash pay points, SAPO branches, ATMs, and retailers. To make the process more convenient, SASSA has established 53 active cash paypoints and 81 active SAPO branches.

Beneficiaries’ Payment Options

Beneficiaries should recognize that they have the freedom to select the payment method that best suits their needs. To facilitate this, SASSA has set cut-off dates on which changes to payment methods should be captured in the system. Beneficiaries are encouraged to make changes before the 15th of each month to avoid long queues at local SASSA offices. In addition, the SASSA Services Portal provides a platform for submitting payment method change requests.

Support Channels for Beneficiaries

Beneficiaries can address any concerns or inquiries by contacting SASSA’s toll-free number, 0800 60 10 11, or by calling 013 574 9428/9363 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays. Senzeni Ngubeni is also available at 013 754 9367, 083 556 9626, or via e-mail at senzenin@sassa.gov.za. This multi-channel support system ensures that beneficiaries can get prompt and efficient assistance.

Empowering Beneficiaries

By clarifying the gold card’s validity, emphasizing payment options, and providing support channels for beneficiaries, SASSA is empowering beneficiaries to take control of their financial lives. Beneficiaries can now make informed decisions that best suit their unique circumstances. This flexibility and autonomy promote greater peace of mind and security.
