The objective of the media engagement is to discuss important aspects such as the progress made in implementing the District Development Model in KwaZulu-Natal Province, the state of readiness for the upcoming DDM Imbizo, and the service delivery challenges within Ladysmith and its surrounding areas. The DDM Imbizo aims to address these challenges.
The District Development Model aims to streamline and accelerate the delivery of basic services to communities. It promotes an integrated approach to development and connects the three spheres of government – national, provincial, and local – to function in unison for the betterment of the region’s inhabitants.
The Imbizo is a significant event in the South African government’s calendar as it provides an opportunity for government officials, business leaders, community members, and other stakeholders to discuss pressing issues affecting the local community. These gatherings encourage dialogue and foster cooperative relationships between government and citizens, paving the way for a more inclusive and sustainable development approach.
The media engagement will take place at Ladysmith Utility Hall, Indoor Sports Complex. It is an opportunity for journalists and media representatives to gain insights into the preparations and objectives of the DDM Imbizo. Sharing this information with the public will raise awareness about the government’s efforts to address service delivery challenges in KwaZulu-Natal Province and promote the District Development Model.
Members of the media are advised to confirm their attendance by contacting Takalani Mukwevho via email at takalanim@gcis.gov.za. Any inquiries regarding the event can be directed to William Baloyi, who can be reached at 083 390 7147.

The DDM Imbizo serves as an essential platform for the South African government’s ongoing efforts to improve the lives of its citizens by working collaboratively and addressing the challenges faced by local communities. Open communication and collaboration between government, business, and civil society are crucial in driving effective, sustainable change.
