The Hermanus FynArts Festival is returning from June 9 to 18, 2023, bringing with it ten days of immersive arts and culture experiences. Attendees can expect a diverse range of performances, exhibitions, workshops, talks, films, culinary events, and demonstrations.
Nestled amidst stunning natural surroundings, the Hermanus FynArts Festival is a vibrant celebration of arts and culture. The festival’s program includes visual art exhibitions, musical concerts, discussions, culinary demonstrations, wine tastings, and workshops, catering to a range of interests.
The festival takes place in the tranquil winter months of Hermanus, originally conceived as a tourism-oriented event by Mary Faure, former chairperson of the Hermanus Tourism Bureau, to encourage visitors to spend more than one night in the area.
The FynArts Legacy Award is a prestigious honor given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to the arts. Previous recipients include John Kani, Hugh Masakela, and David Kramer. This year, Pieter-Dirk Uys will receive the award.
The FynArts Festival goes beyond its main event, contributing to the year-round development of the arts in Greater Hermanus. The festival takes a proactive approach to empowering young people, providing employment opportunities through community-based arts projects.
The festival has achieved significant growth and development as an organization, including registration as a non-profit organization (NPO), establishment of the FynArts Development Fund, and opening of the FynArts Gallery, serving as the festival’s office and contributing to year-round brand marketing.
As the festival approaches, excitement mounts for this dynamic celebration of arts and creativity. Immerse yourself in the Hermanus FynArts Festival and experience the enchantment it brings to the quaint town, attracting discerning visitors, art aficionados, and collectors to the area.
