Discovering South Africa’s Natural Wonders During National Parks Week 2023

South African National Parks (SANParks) is preparing for its 18th annual SA National Parks Week, taking place from September 16th to 24th, 2023. The event will provide the perfect opportunity to witness the country’s wildflower fields in full bloom and enjoy warmer weather. With the theme ‘Know Your National Parks,’ SANParks aims to cultivate a sense of pride among South Africans towards their natural, cultural, and historical heritage.

Free Entry to National Parks

During the week, visitors can enter most of the 21 national parks across the country without paying entry fees from Monday to Friday, and in some parks, on weekends. However, entry fees still apply to Namaqua National Park and Boulders Beach’s African Penguins. Nonetheless, there are still numerous breathtaking destinations to explore.

SANParks’ SA National Parks Week aims to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of the role SANParks plays as custodian of the country’s natural heritage. “If we are to create a sense of ownership of the natural heritage of South Africa in all South Africans, they must be able to have access to such,” said SANParks CEO, Hapiloe Sello.

During this exciting week, South Africans and visitors have the opportunity to experience the iconic beauty and diverse flora and fauna that their national parks have to offer. Seize this chance to explore and discover the wonders of South Africa’s natural marvels!
