Empowering Gauteng’s youth through Tshepo 1Million Project

The Gauteng Provincial Government has launched an initiative called Tshepo 1Million to empower young job seekers and entrepreneurs. The project aims to provide access to free resources, support, and opportunities to help young people build their careers. The government has collaborated with Harambe, a well-known organization that drives youth employment initiatives, to improve the prospects for young job seekers and entrepreneurs in the province.

Meeting with Gauteng Legislature’s Oversight Committee

On August 17, 2023, the Gauteng Premier’s Office will meet with the Legislature’s Oversight Committee on the Premier’s Office & the Legislature (OCPOL) to discuss the progress of Tshepo 1Million. During the meeting, the Premier’s Office will present its performance report for the first quarter of the 2023/2024 financial year, including a comprehensive report regarding the contract with Harambe. The report will showcase the contracted targets, achievements, and expenditure to-date, as well as plans to enhance the youth upskilling program going forward. The media has been invited to cover the event, which will be livestreamed on the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s YouTube Channel.

Innovative approach to addressing societal challenges

Tshepo 1Million is accessible through a data-free mobile site (tshepo.datafree.co), ensuring that a broad range of users can easily access its offerings. By leveraging technology in this way, the project can have a more significant impact on its target audience, reaching even those in remote areas. Through targeted resources, support, and opportunities, Tshepo 1Million can contribute significantly to the growth and prosperity of the entire province.

Collaboration and support for a brighter future

The Gauteng Provincial Government has taken an essential step towards empowering the young population and helping them reach their full potential by collaborating with private organizations like Harambe. With continued collaboration and support from all stakeholders, the Tshepo 1Million project can pave the way for a brighter future for Gauteng’s youth.

The upcoming meeting between the Gauteng Premier’s Office and OCPOL will provide an opportunity to assess the progress of the Tshepo 1Million project and discuss ways to improve its outcomes. By investing in the education, training, and development of young job seekers and entrepreneurs, the initiative promises to foster sustainable growth and socio-economic development in the Gauteng province.
