Empowering Small Business Operators in KwaZulu-Natal

Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry, and Competition, Ms. Nomalungelo Gina, recently spoke at a business seminar held in the Alfred Duma Local Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. The seminar was organized to support the growth and development of small businesses in the region, highlighting their significant contribution to job creation.

Exploring Opportunities and Resources

Ms. Gina encouraged local entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities available to them and take advantage of government support programs. She emphasized the importance of exploring the region’s cultural history to develop sustainable and workable businesses. Ms. Gina urged attendees to strategically utilize the natural and historical resources of the region and move away from the mindset that economic opportunities primarily exist in major cities.

Compliance with Regulations

Ms. Gina also emphasized the importance of compliance with regulations, which protects the integrity of businesses and ensures they have access to support measures in times of crisis, such as the devastating floods and the July unrests of 2021.

Connecting Entrepreneurs with Resources

The seminar provided valuable information about financial and non-financial support available to businesses, including compliance guidance. Representatives from various state entities and development finance institutions participated in the seminar. The event was part of the build-up program for the Presidential Imbizo, which took place in the Alfred Duma Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal.

Fostering Innovation and Resilience

Ms. Gina’s message aimed to inspire innovation and entrepreneurship in the region, encouraging entrepreneurs to recognize their pivotal role in the economy. By connecting small business operators with resources and tools, the seminar aimed to encourage informed decision-making and foster growth in the region’s small business sector.

The government’s commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs and small business operators was showcased at the business seminar addressed by Deputy Minister Nomalungelo Gina. The event provided a platform for networking and learning, showcasing the available resources and support programs designed to help businesses grow and thrive. By encouraging entrepreneurs to utilize their local resources strategically, the seminar aimed to foster a spirit of innovation and resilience in KwaZulu-Natal’s small business community.
