Empowering Women in Business through the Africa Free Trade Agreement

South Africa will host a business symposium on August 18, 2023, aimed at empowering women during Women’s Month. The event will be led by Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, and KZN MEC for Finance, Ms. Neliswa Peggy Nkonyeni, and will focus on the Africa Free Trade Agreement.

The Importance of the Africa Free Trade Agreement for Women

The Women in Business Symposium aims to accelerate socio-economic opportunities for women and highlight the importance of making the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreement (AfCFTA) work in their favor. South Africa and the African continent possess immense mineral deposits and commodities that should benefit all Africans, particularly women and youth.

Distinguished Guests and Speakers

The symposium, themed “Knowledge is power, Ulwazi Lungamandla,” will host an array of distinguished guests and speakers, including Minister of Transport Sindisiwe Chikunga, Deputy Minister of Health Dr. Sibongiseni Dhlomo, Premier of KwaZulu-Natal, and Mayor of Ilembe District Municipality. The event will also feature senior leaders from government and private sectors.

Promoting Women’s Empowerment

The presentations at the symposium will consist of insights from stakeholders in government, private sectors, and other representatives from South Africa and the African continent. The goal is to empower women by providing them with the knowledge and resources needed to tap into African markets and benefit from the AfCFTA.

Accessible Opportunities for Women

The Women in Business Symposium will take place at the EBandla Hotel in Ballito, Ilembe District, on August 18, 2023. The event promises a day filled with engaging, informative discussions on the potential for women’s empowerment through the Africa Free Trade Agreement.

Commitment to Women in Business

By hosting this symposium during Women’s Month, South Africa demonstrates its commitment to the growth and development of women in business. The Women in Business Symposium serves as a platform for crucial conversations, leading to tangible steps that can be taken to empower women and ensure their success in the African market.

Arming Women with Knowledge

The Women in Business Symposium is a unique opportunity for women to connect, learn, and be inspired by like-minded individuals, industry leaders, and government representatives. Arming women with the necessary tools to navigate the business landscape will be instrumental in their empowerment.
