Experience a Musical Journey Amidst Nature’s Splendor at Islands on the River Festival

Islands on the River is a boutique festival that promises a magical musical journey amidst the picturesque Olifants River. Hosted by the renowned Wolfkop Weekender, the festival provides an enchanting atmosphere for music enthusiasts to unwind and enjoy vibrant energy and unforgettable moments.

A Festival Born Amidst the Pandemic

Islands on the River was born amidst the pandemic in 2020, reflecting the inventive spirit of Wolfkop Weekender. The festival transformed into a series of ten mini-festivals, each hosting 50 attendees, to adapt to social gathering restrictions. The innovative concept resonated with festival-goers, earning Islands on the River a coveted spot among Wolfkop Weekender’s most sought-after events.

A Balance Between Lively and Intimate

With a limited capacity of 1,500 attendees, Islands on the River fosters a sense of connection and engagement, striking the perfect balance between lively and intimate. The festival embraces music enthusiasts of all ages and unfolds across 800 meters of sprawling green lawns, riverside relaxation spots, and picturesque hiking trails.

An Exceptional Lineup of International and Local Talent

The musical journey takes center stage with an exceptional lineup of international and local talent. Italian star Massimiliano Pagliara headlines the event, captivating audiences with his genre-blending sets of house, techno, electro, and disco. Local DJ Jazzuelle, known for sharing the stage at world-renowned festivals such as Barcelona’s Sonar and the UK’s Glastonbury, will showcase his exceptional skills alongside Massimiliano.

Plethora of Activities to Explore

Beyond the mesmerizing sounds, Islands on the River offers a plethora of activities for festival-goers to explore. The festival provides an opportunity to relish the crystal-clear river, invigorating yoga sessions, bodyboard tours, or simply unwind in the gorgeous surroundings. The festival also offers breathtaking mountain views while traversing walking routes and indulging in an array of food trucks and stalls serving mouthwatering pizzas, vegan delights, and refreshing slushies.

Accommodation Options to Suit All Preferences

Accommodation options cater to a range of preferences, from glamorous “glamping” to traditional camping. Festival-goers can select from vinyl tents with comfortable mattresses and shade cloths, luxurious bell tents, or bring-your-own-tent areas. For a more indulgent experience, select the River Front Villa, featuring four dome tents, a private kitchenette, fire boma, braai area, and jetty. Off-site cottages accommodating four to ten people are also available, and all accommodations include festival passes for a seamless experience.

A Magical Musical Journey Unlike Any Other

Enveloped in the captivating beauty of the Olifants River and Wolfkop Camping Villages in Citrusdal, Islands on the River promises a magical musical journey unlike any other. As October 2023 approaches, prepare to be swept away by the festival’s enchanting melodies, vibrant energy, and unforgettable moments.
