South Africa is home to some of the most unique and stunning gemstones that capture the imagination of locals and tourists. From diamonds to Tanzanite, a wide range of minerals and rocks is found in this part of the world.

Scratch for Your Favourite Gemstones

One of the best places to experience the beauty of indigenous gemstones in South Africa is at the Scratch Patch outlets. These complexes offer visitors a chance to scratch for their favorite gems on a floor covered with hundreds of thousands of colorful tumble-polished stones. The Scratch Patch is the main attraction and has become world-famous for its unique concept. Visitors can collect their gems in a small bag or large cup container, depending on their preference.

Mineral World Factory Shops

Visitors can explore an incredible range of gemstone items at the Mineral World factory shops. The shops offer stone carvings, high-quality investment gems such as Tanzanite and diamonds, and a wide variety of jewelry. In addition, many inexpensive gemstone items make ideal take-home gifts.

Cave Golf Mini-Golf Courses

The Cave Golf mini-golf courses are exceptional and a great activity for families. The V&A Waterfront course boasts an 18-hole layout that is well-designed, compact, and challenging enough for regular golfers to enjoy. The Simon’s Town course is longer, with 18 holes that wind through a series of underground areas featuring rock walls, cave and mine obstacles, underground waterfalls, a UV light section, and fabulous mineral displays embedded in the surrounding rock.

The Rock Shop and Topstones Factory

The Rock Shop is a treasure trove for geology enthusiasts, featuring many beautiful mineral specimens, rough gemstone pieces, and fossils. Finally, the Topstones Factory is one of the world’s largest factories that craft gemstones into many exciting and varied products.

The Scratch Patch complexes are open seven days a week, with the V&A Waterfront and Simon’s Town locations opening from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm on weekdays and from 9:00 am to 5:30 pm on weekends and public holidays.
