White’s tenure as Springbok coach was not without controversy. He was dismissed from his post in 2007, despite leading the national team to their historic World Cup victory. Nonetheless, White remains a revered figure in South African rugby, and he has continued to demonstrate his coaching prowess in various teams he has coached, including the Brumbies and Montpellier. Speculation is ripe regarding who will replace Nienaber when he departs from the national team post-World Cup in France. Some have suggested that the role may be shared between a head coach and a director of rugby, which could open up more possibilities for White. Nonetheless, White has been clear that he will not do anything without the approval of the Bulls, and he remains committed to the team.
