Are you in search of a unique and innovative food-and-wine experience? Look no further than Gåte Restaurant in Knorhoek, situated just outside Stellenbosch. The restaurant overlooks the Quoin Rock vineyards, adding to the refined dining ambiance in a secluded valley.
The restaurant’s modern, multi-course tasting menus are designed to take diners on a multi-sensory journey. Chef Paul Prinsloo’s perfectionism, intense focus, and creativity can be tasted in every dish he conceptualizes from the complementary local, seasonal ingredients.
The beautiful, light-filled restaurant with views of the dramatic Simonsberg Mountain adds another layer to the experience. On the Gte table, wines from the Quoin Rock and Namysto lines are shown off beautifully. Diners can try the potent Quoin Rock red mix, the spicy Quoin Rock shiraz, the fragrant Namysto Rosé, and the zesty Quoin Rock Vine Dried dessert wine.
The restaurant offers a seven-course dinner menu that stretches to ten with canapés, bread courses, and petits fours to finish, perfectly paired with wine. Allow a leisurely four hours to make the most of it. There is also a five-course tasting menu, a three-course daytime menu on Wednesday and Thursday, and the option to pair food with teas instead of wine on request.
While the tasting menu may be pricey, it is worth it for the experience, wine, dining, attention, and dishes. The restaurant is perfect for special occasions, date nights, or a fine dining experience in the Winelands. The service is of the highest excellence, and the food is mind-blowing.
