Gauteng Government Takes Action Against Unemployment with the Launch of Jobs Fair

The Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG) has launched a Jobs Fair campaign to combat unemployment and promote access to job opportunities within the province. The initiative, which coincides with the 47th anniversary of the June 16 uprising, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to reduce unemployment and raise awareness of job openings.

Thousands of Professional Jobs Available Across Various Fields

The Jobs Fair campaign offers thousands of professional job opportunities in fields such as driving, reception, cleaning, construction, communication, healthcare, agriculture, engineering, and finance. The initial plan was to advertise over 15,000 vacant positions across all departments and agencies. However, due to capacity and budgetary constraints, the number was revised. The first batch of vacancies was advertised on June 16, with more to come in subsequent phases until all positions are filled.

Addressing Unemployment and Improving Service Delivery

Premier Lesufi emphasized the need to address high unemployment levels, particularly among designated groups in the province. The GPG’s recruitment drive aims to fill funded vacancies in various departments and entities, which will not only tackle unemployment but also enhance the state’s capacity and improve service delivery. By expanding the workforce, the GPG hopes to meet the diverse needs of its residents.

Supporting Job Seekers through Walk-In Centers

To ensure that job seekers are well informed about these opportunities, all Members of the Executive Council (MECs) and Human Resource officials will be deployed to various walk-in centers throughout the Gauteng City Region. These interactive sessions will provide attendees with the necessary information to access job opportunities successfully.

Seizing the Opportunity to Join the Public Service

The GPG invites interested individuals to visit the designated Jobs Fair walk-in centers and take advantage of the opportunity to join the public service. Job seekers are encouraged to bring their CVs and download and print Z83 forms. They can also apply by visiting the Gauteng Jobs Portal at www.jobs.gauteng.gov.za. Applications open on June 16, 2023, and close on July 14, 2023.

A Bold Step Forward for Gauteng

This Jobs Fair campaign is a significant step forward for Gauteng in addressing unemployment. By providing a wide range of job opportunities and facilitating access to these positions, the provincial government is making progress in empowering its residents and improving service delivery. With the support of the MECs and Human Resource officials, this initiative is expected to positively impact the lives of many job seekers in the province.
