Jamali Celebrates 20 Years of Musical Legacy with a Special Concert

South African music band Jamali, the winners of the Coca-Cola Popstars competition in 2003, is celebrating their 20-year journey with a 20-Year Legacy Celebration concert on 5 August 2023 in Pretoria. The group, composed of Jacky Carpede, Mariechan Luiters, and Liesl Penniken, has been a major force in the South African music scene, with platinum album sales, sold-out concerts, and numerous music awards.

A Legacy of Captivating Performances and Vocal Harmonies

Jamali’s captivating performances and enchanting vocal harmonies have garnered them a devoted fan base and cemented their status as a musical powerhouse. Presold tickets for the event are available, ranging from R250 to R350.

A Series of Shows to Celebrate the Legacy

The 20-Year Legacy Celebration is just one of 20 shows planned by Jamali to mark this important milestone. The first show took place on 1 July, reuniting the group after a seven-year hiatus. During this period, the individual members pursued their solo careers but remained closely connected.

Grind and Perseverance

In a statement to TimesLive, the bandmates expressed their desire to be remembered for their “grind and perseverance.” Luiters remarked, “Our legacy should be that we were one of one. Our music will remain nostalgic, and we empowered other young artists through our grind and perseverance… I think we’ve come full circle with a lot we wanted to achieve.”

Jamali has made a lasting impact on the South African music industry, paving the way for new talents and inspiring young musicians to pursue their dreams.
