Kaizer Chiefs Eyeing Ashley Cupido for Striker Position

The Kaizer Chiefs have been busy during the current transfer window, adding seven new players to their squad. However, their search for a striker remains their top priority. The South African club has previously shown interest in Ashley Cupido, and reports suggest that they are considering making a move for the promising young player.

Significant Changes in the Lineup

The Chiefs have made significant changes to their lineup, with the addition of Thathayoane Ditlhokwe, Given Msimango, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edson Castillo, Pule Mmodi, Ranga Chivaviro, and Tebogo Potsane. This influx of talent has been accompanied by the departure of seven players, including Eric Mathoho, Siyabonga Ngezana, Phathutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander, Khama Billiat, Austin Dube, and Kgaogelo Sekgota.

Seeking to Bolster Attacking Options

The Chiefs have been linked with Burundi international striker Caleb Bimenyimana but lost out to Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca. This has prompted the South African club to reconsider their options. The team manager Bobby Motaung confirmed that the club is looking to strengthen their attack but dismissed rumors linking them with Gabadinho Mhango. Instead, they have set their sights on Cupido and are prepared to enter into negotiations with Cape Town Spurs for the 21-year-old striker.

Cupido’s Impressive Scoring Ability

Cupido has shown an impressive scoring ability, netting 15 goals for the Spurs during the Motsepe Foundation Championship last season and adding another in the playoffs. The Cape Town club had initially been reluctant to let go of their young star, hoping to keep him for at least one more season in the top flight. However, the Chiefs’ renewed interest could prompt a change of heart.

A Long-Term Investment for the Club

If the Chiefs can secure Cupido’s signature, they would be acquiring a promising talent for both their present and future plans. As a young and prolific striker with potential for growth, Cupido could prove to be an excellent long-term investment for the club, particularly as 30-year-old Chivaviro is added to their ranks.

Competition for Cupido’s Services

The Chiefs are not alone in their pursuit of Cupido, as rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have also shown interest in the rising star earlier in the window. The competition for the gifted striker will undoubtedly be fierce, but the Chiefs appear determined to make a strong bid for his services.

In conclusion, Kaizer Chiefs’ ongoing efforts to strengthen their squad have yielded impressive results, with the addition of seven new players and the potential acquisition of a promising striker in Ashley Cupido. As the club looks to build on their success and continue their growth, securing a talent like Cupido could be a significant step in the right direction.
