MEC Gaoage Oageng Molapisi Calls for Internal Investigation of Tender Award

Amid reports of irregularities in the awarding of a tender to Ndhuna Civils, MEC Gaoage Oageng Molapisi has directed an internal investigation to be conducted urgently. As the MEC for Public Works and Roads, Molapisi expressed his concern regarding allegations and the Department’s admission that the contractor has underperformed on previous projects due to poor workmanship.

Importance of Transparency and Accountability

Molapisi emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability within the Department, stating that it should operate in a manner that remains responsive to service delivery issues. In a letter to the Head of Department, Mr. Moss Kgantsi, Molapisi instructed that the internal investigation must be conducted promptly, and a report submitted no later than July 11, 2023.

Upholding Department’s Commitment

By conducting this internal investigation, Molapisi hopes to uphold the Department’s commitment to addressing any concerns or disputes related to service delivery promptly. This decisive move reflects the MEC’s dedication to ensuring that the Department’s operations align with the highest standards expected by the public.

Scrutinizing Tender Award Processes

The investigation will scrutinize the processes behind the tender award to Ndhuna Civils and evaluate whether the contractor was deserving of the tender in light of their previous track record. The outcome of this investigation will not only impact Ndhuna Civils but also serve as a message to other contractors that the Department is committed to due diligence and upholding the highest standards in its operations.

Implementing Necessary Changes

It is essential for the Department to learn from this situation and implement any necessary changes to prevent similar issues from arising in the future. This may include refining their procurement processes, conducting more rigorous assessments of potential contractors, or improving communication and collaboration between different stakeholders.

Commitment to Transparency and Accountability

The prompt action taken by MEC Gaoage Oageng Molapisi in directing this internal investigation demonstrates a commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement within the Department of Public Works and Roads. As more information is uncovered during the investigation, the Department will be better equipped to make informed decisions and implement effective solutions that protect the interests of both the public and the Department.

Positive Step Toward Addressing Concerns

Though the final outcome of the investigation remains uncertain, the fact that it has been initiated is a positive step toward addressing concerns and ensuring that the Department operates in an efficient, transparent, and accountable manner. It is crucial for public trust and confidence in the Department that such issues are openly dealt with and resolved in a timely fashion, and the initiation of this investigation is a strong indication of that commitment.
