Minister Blade Nzimande Inaugurates TIPP 2023 Conference in Cape Town

South Africa’s Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Hon. Dr. Blade Nzimande, is set to inaugurate the prestigious 2023 Technology and Instrumentation in Particle Physics (TIPP) conference in Cape Town. The global event, scheduled for Monday, September 4th, will bring together over 250 of the world’s leading scientists and researchers in particle physics technology and instrumentation.

The Backbone of Particle Physics Laboratories

Particle physics technology and instrumentation form the backbone of large-scale particle physics laboratories like CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. These scientists will gather to share their work and progress in the field over the past two years. Professor Bruce Mellado, Chair of the Conference at Wits University’s School of Physics and NRF-iThemba LAB, notes that the event is an excellent opportunity for international scientists to collaborate and demonstrate how their cooperation can benefit South Africa.
