The purpose of the visit was to assess progress and intervene in government projects to achieve set targets for the current financial year.

Kubayi’s proactive approach to expedite housing delivery

Minister Kubayi’s hands-on approach demonstrates her dedication to ensuring that South African citizens receive the housing they require in a timely manner. This visit followed her earlier trip to the Free State Province, where she identified the need for action against underperforming contractors to accelerate service delivery.

Assessing provincial performance on housing delivery

During her visit to the Northern Cape Province, Kubayi held a meeting to assess provincial performance in housing delivery. This was preceded by an in-loco inspection at the Hull Street Social Housing site. The visit included Minister Kubayi, MEC Bentley Vass, and local mayors, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between various levels of government in addressing the housing issue.

Empowering women in human settlements sector

Kubayi was also keen on empowering women within the human settlements sector. From 19 to 20 August, she convened the Human Settlements Women Indaba in Kimberly to increase women’s participation in the human settlements value chain. This initiative demonstrates the minister’s commitment to fostering inclusivity and promoting gender equality in the housing sector.

Valuable insights into housing projects

Kubayi’s visit to the Northern Cape Province yielded valuable insights into the current state of housing projects and the performance of various stakeholders. By identifying areas for improvement, she was able to make informed decisions on how to address challenges and ensure the achievement of set targets.

Holding underperforming contractors accountable

Kubayi’s efforts to address underperformance among contractors underscore her dedication to holding parties accountable for their responsibilities in delivering housing to citizens. The minister’s involvement in these projects sends a strong message that inefficiency and delays will not be tolerated, as the government remains committed to improving the lives of South Africans.

Promoting inclusivity in the housing sector

The Human Settlements Women Indaba convened by Kubayi further highlights her comprehensive approach to addressing housing development in the nation. By promoting women’s participation in the sector, Kubayi is fostering a more inclusive and diverse workforce that can contribute to the creation of sustainable human settlements.

In conclusion, Minister Kubayi’s leadership and proactive approach to addressing the housing issue in South Africa send a clear message that the government is committed to rapidly delivering sustainable human settlements. By taking decisive action against underperformance and empowering women in the sector, she is taking valuable strides towards ensuring that all citizens have access to quality housing that meets their needs.
