Minister Thulas Nxesi Leads the “Taking Services to the People” Campaign in Eastern Cape

South Africa’s Department of Employment and Labour Minister, Mr. T.W. Nxesi, has initiated the “Taking Services to the People” campaign in Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality (NMBMM). The objective is to improve the economy of the region by addressing the needs of work seekers, employers, and employees. Scheduled for July 13 and 14, the initiative is aligned with the District Development Model (DDM) and will offer various departmental services to the local community.

Bringing Essential Government Services Closer to the People

The “Taking Services to the People” campaign is an extension of the Department of Employment and Labour’s quarterly Major Communication Campaign. The event aims to offer essential government services to the people and resolve client inquiries while ensuring employer compliance with labor legislation.

Services Offered During the Campaign

The two-day event will provide various services to the community. These include registration and resolution of Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) and Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases (COID) complaints. The Public Employment Services will register work seekers, while Inspection and Enforcement Services will inspect farms. Additionally, there will be information sessions for small, medium, and micro enterprises (SMMEs) and canvassing for job opportunities.

Location and Activities

The event will be held in KwaLanga/Xaba Community Hall, Kariega, and Babs Madlakane Community Hall, KwaNobuhle. The itinerary includes Services on the Spot, Joint Operation Inspection in Farms, and Business Expo for SMMEs in partnership with BIZZNET 101.

A Focus on Community Needs and Economic Growth

The “Taking Services to the People” campaign is a demonstration of the Department of Employment and Labour’s dedication to offering necessary services while addressing community needs and fostering economic growth. The initiative aims to empower SMMEs and create an environment that enables citizens to thrive.

Minister Nxesi’s Leadership

Minister Nxesi’s leadership in this campaign illustrates his commitment to the people of NMBMM. It is an unconventional approach that shows the Department of Employment and Labour’s innovative strategy. By cutting bureaucratic red tape and streamlining processes, this campaign can make a positive impact on the lives of the residents of NMBMM.

The “Taking Services to the People” campaign is an example of how the South African government is working to improve the lives of its citizens. By addressing various labor concerns, supporting SMMEs, and engaging with the community directly, Minister Nxesi is fostering an environment that can lead to a stronger, more prosperous South Africa.
