Monster Jam Returns to Cape Town Stadium: A Spectacular Event

Monster Jam, the world-renowned monster truck competition, has returned to Cape Town Stadium for another thrilling event. The competition is known for its high-octane action, with eight powerful trucks competing against each other in various competitions. The stadium was buzzing with excitement as the media and Mayor Geordin-Hill Lewis were given a sneak peek at the trucks before the event.

The Mighty Monster Jam Trucks

The Monster Jam trucks are a sight to behold, standing four meters tall and four meters wide, with tires reaching 1.7 meters in height. These trucks are custom-designed and powered by super-charged engines that deliver more than 1,500 horsepower. They can jump as far as 43 meters in length, leaving the audience in awe.

Eight trucks were chosen to compete in the event, including fan favorites such as the legendary Grave Digger, Max-D, Megalodon®, El Toro Loco, Monster Mutt Dalmatian, Zombie, Blue Thunder, and Earth Shaker. The Earth Shaker truck is making its South Africa debut, paying homage to the trucks and construction crews that build Monster Jam tracks worldwide. Even the driver’s fire suit was created with a construction crew theme.

World-Class Drivers and Their Skills

The international drivers that compete in the Monster Jam events are world-class athletes who have mastered the physical strength, mental stamina, and dexterity needed to control these 4,500 kg machines. The drivers are capable of doing backflips, vertical two-wheel skills, and racing at speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour, producing jaw-dropping, live motorsports action seen around the world.

The event will see all-star drivers competing in South Africa, including 2019 Monster Jam World Finals Speedster Champion Matt Cody (Grave Digger); 2019 Monster Jam World Finals ATV Racing Champion Blake Granger (Max-D); off-road short course champion and rising star Monster Jam star, Brandon Arthur (El Toro Loco); Myranda Cozad (Monster Mutt Dalmatian); Chelsea VanCleave (Zombie); Tony Ochs (Earth Shaker), winner of the 2019 Arena Freestyle of the Year trophy; Camden Murphy (Blue Thunder), winner of the 2022 Monster Jam Fan Favorite Driver of the Year; and Charlie Pauken, who previously drove Grave Digger at the 2019 Monster Jam SA tour, returns to South Africa behind the wheel of Megalodon.

Experience the Thrill and Excitement of Monster Jam

The Monster Jam event is an exciting and unforgettable experience for all who attend. The drivers, their trucks, and their skills are awe-inspiring, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats. Fans in every city now have the chance to vote for the winner in the two-wheel and freestyle competitions by real-time, in-stadium fan voting on their smartphones. It’s an event that should not be missed.

While children under three years are not permitted, and there are strictly no unaccompanied minors, fans of all ages are encouraged to wear earplugs or earmuffs to enjoy the fun while reducing exposure to high levels of noise. Professional cameras are not permitted, but amateur photographers can capture the excitement and share their experiences with their friends and family. If you’re looking for an action-packed event that will leave you breathless, the Monster Jam at Cape Town Stadium is the place to be.
