New Board Appointed for State Information Technology Agency (SITA)

Minister Mondli Gungubele, responsible for Communications and Digital Technologies, has announced changes to the Board of Directors of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA). The interim Board will include professionals with expertise in ICT, law, auditing, finance, human capital, and governance. These changes come after several board members resigned.

Board Members

  1. Khathu Sibanda – A seasoned IT professional with over 20 years of experience in directing successful technology and business strategies. She has worked in both the public and private sectors, gaining extensive experience in IT.
  2. Dr. Lucienne Abraham – With a Ph.D. in knowledge economies, Dr. Abraham has vast experience in digital knowledge economy, ICT policy, and regulation. She has previously served on the SITA Board.
  3. Luvuyo Keyise – With a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Keyise is a skilled and experienced IT executive. He has previously served as an Administrator for SITA, with vast knowledge in information technology and telecommunications.
  4. Sherylee Moonsamy (CA) – Moonsamy is an experienced Chief Financial Officer with a proven history within the government administration industry. She had served on the previous SITA Board.
  5. Nolitha Pietersen (CA) – A seasoned Chartered Accountant, Pietersen has worked with various public and private organizations. She serves on numerous boards and committees, including the previous SITA Board.
  6. Kiruben Pillay – Pillay is a management and engineering professional with extensive experience in mission-critical ICT environments. With expertise in strategy formulation and implementation, general management, technology and product management, and operations management, he is registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa and a Senior Member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers.
  7. Lerato Petlele – Petlele is a seasoned Human Capital practitioner with extensive technical expertise and experience in recruitment administration, labor relations, organizational development, and talent management. She holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce and a Master’s Diploma in Human Resource Management.
  8. Mandla Martin Mnisi – Mnisi is a practicing attorney and a Director at Mncedisi Ndlovu & Sedumedi (MNS Attorneys). He serves as a Non-Executive Director at Denel SOC Ltd, where he was part of the board that developed a governance turnaround plan.

Addition of Representatives

The Minister has also named representatives from the Department of Public Service and Administration and the National Treasury:

  1. Laura Seme – Seme was also part of the previous Board.
  2. Renisha Naidoo

Minister Gungubele emphasized the importance of the new Board’s composition, which combines institutional experience and continuity to strategically reposition SITA as a vital tool in the state’s digitization process. He expressed his warm welcome to the interim board and wished them success in re-establishing SITA as the leading authority on ICT matters within the government and transforming the nation’s service delivery realities.
