New Cape Town-inspired Buddy-Comedy Animation Series ‘Kiff’ Set to Premiere on Disney+

Cape Town’s Lucy Heavens and Nic Smal have created a new buddy-comedy animation series called ‘Kiff’ that is set to premiere on Disney+. The series draws inspiration from the creators’ experiences of growing up in the Mother City, inspired by the unique culture and environment of Cape Town.

The Plot

In the cartoon show, two friends, Kiff the squirrel and Barry the bunny, have adventures in the City. Heavens and Smal have hidden a few references to Cape Town in the show so that viewers can find them. This makes the show an authentic tribute to the “Mother City.”

Inspiration and Style

In an interview, the creators revealed that the series is for the new generation and is inspired by animated favorites like The Simpsons and DuckTales. Set in an eccentric community surrounded by friends and family, Kiff and Barry find adventures just around the corner.

‘We wanted to create a show that would be relatable and entertaining for audiences of all ages while also capturing the unique spirit of Cape Town,’ said Heavens.

Premiere and Expectations

The series is set to premiere on Disney+ soon, and the creators are excited to bring a local flavor to the international platform. They hope that viewers worldwide will enjoy watching the series and get a taste of Cape Town’s vibrant culture.

Capetonians, Heavens, and Smal drew inspiration from their experiences of going to school in the City, their friends and family, and the unique environment that sets Cape Town apart from the rest of the world. Their new series, ‘Kiff,’ is a testament to the spirit of Cape Town and is sure to be a hit with local and international audiences.
