Ochre: A South African Culinary Experience at One&Only Cape Town

Ochre is a vibrant contemporary South African restaurant that must-visit dining destination for anyone exploring Cape Town. The restaurant celebrates the local flavors of Mother City’s heritage by using spices representing the diverse influences of the spice trade in the area. The colorful decor transports visitors to a world of culinary delights, and the staff uniform made of shweshwe fabric adds to the South African ambiance.

Mouth-Watering Menu at Ochre

Executive Chef Chris Mare has created a mouth-watering à la carte dinner menu that features six starters, six mains, and three desserts. The starter choices include buchu-cured gemsbok with sour figs and Cape octopus and West Coast mussels with crucial lime, garlic chips, and lemongrass sauce. The mains include pulled-lamb Bobotie with shortcrust pastry, sweet potato, banana purée, braised pork-belly trotter, and beef rib-eye. The in-house pastry team has created a trio of options for dessert, including Forest Flora Peppermint Crisp.

Head Sommelier Luvo Ntezo is available to guide guests through the impressive wine list, which includes rare vintages such as Bartho Eksteen Vloekstoot CWG and Eben Sadie Palladius. In addition to dinner, Ochre serves a buffet breakfast daily that will cater to all tastes.

Our experience at Ochre was simply unique. The team’s energy was infectious from the moment we entered, and we were immediately immersed in the vibrant atmosphere. The staff was engaging and attentive throughout the night, making us feel welcome and cared for. The food was exceptional, and we enjoyed every bite, from the starters to the dessert. We were delighted with our wine choices; the sommelier’s guidance was invaluable. The breakfast experience was equally impressive, and we enjoyed a lavish spread of meats, fresh fish, and various other delicious options. The staff exceeded our expectations in every way, making our visit to Ochre unforgettable.
