The Department of Communications and Digital Technologies, in partnership with the State Information Technology Agency SOC Ltd (SITA), will hold the 2023 Government Technology (GovTech) Conference. The event will take place from September 12 to 14 at the eThekwini Metro Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal Province. Hon Mondli Gungubele, the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, will officially inaugurate the three-day conference.
The conference theme, “Platform Economy for Digital Transformation and Inclusive Growth,” will explore new technology drivers in the digital economy, digital transformation, and inclusive growth. The event is open to the media, and a link will be shared for virtual confirmation of attendance. The conference will occur daily, starting at 9 AM at the Durban International Convention Centre in KwaZulu-Natal Province.
The conference aims to provide a platform for experts to discuss and share insights on the potential of digital economy drivers in promoting inclusive growth. Digital transformation has become an integral part of modern society, and technology plays a significant role in economic growth and development. The platform economy refers to the rapidly growing ecosystem fueled by digital platforms such as Uber, Airbnb, and Amazon.
The GovTech Conference aims to bring together government leaders, industry experts, and stakeholders to explore opportunities for collaboration and innovation in the digital economy. The discussions will focus on the impact of the platform economy on government services and infrastructure, as well as strategies for leveraging digital transformation to enhance public sector performance.
The conference will delve into the role of digital technologies in promoting social and economic development. Advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT) will be explored in driving innovation and transforming public services. These technologies have the potential to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and ultimately provide more effective services for citizens.
The conference will examine strategies for fostering inclusive growth in the digital economy. As digital technologies become increasingly ubiquitous, it is essential to ensure that all members of society can benefit from their transformative potential. Addressing the digital divide, which refers to the gap between individuals who have access to and can effectively use digital technologies and those who do not, is crucial.
To ensure a successful conference, the organizers have called on members of the media to RSVP by September 8, 2023. Phindi Gule-Burley (Cell: 071 625 9023; Email: Media@mediaandwritersfirm.com) and Rich Hlatshwayo (Cell: 083 880 1260; Email: Media@mediaandwritersfirm.com) are among the contact details provided for this purpose.
