President Cyril Ramaphosa: An Exemplar of Unity, Diversity, and Shared Progress at the XV BRICS Summit

The BRICS nations, consisting of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, represent more than three billion people worldwide, united by a common vision and shared objectives. The countries value partnership and cooperation while celebrating their diverse cultures, traditions, and languages. The XV BRICS Summit Cultural Performance and State Banquet, hosted by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, embodied the spirit of unity and progress.

A Display of South Africa’s Rich Culture

The evening was a spectacular showcase of South Africa’s tapestry of cultures and traditions. Guests savored a culinary journey that highlighted the country’s diverse flavors, curated by renowned chef Wandile Mabaso, who seamlessly blends classical French techniques with South African cuisine. Mabaso was joined by Xolani Mancotywa, a skilled beverage steward and chef, who reimagined African cuisine and authentic African fine dining.

Distinguished guests, including leaders from the Global South and representatives of regional and global institutions, attended this unforgettable event that reflected South Africa’s commitment to inclusive nation-building. The banquet emphasized partnership and cooperation in a spirit of openness and solidarity, reflecting the nature and purpose of BRICS.

Advancements in Science and Technology

The evening also marked a notable milestone in the field of science and technology. India became the first country to successfully land a lunar module on the south pole of the Moon, making history. President Ramaphosa congratulated Prime Minister Modi, the Indian government, and the Indian Space Research Organisation on the success of the Chandraayan-3 mission.

Acknowledging the critical role of scientific exploration in human progress, Prime Minister Modi proposed the establishment of a Space Exploration Commission at the BRICS Summit. The commission would enable BRICS countries to share their knowledge and experiences, promoting greater understanding of the world and its complexities.

Unity, Diversity, and Shared Progress

As poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore once said, “We are in a palace which has no end, but which we have reached. By exploring it and extending our relationship with it, we are ever making it more and more our own.” This sentiment captures the essence of the BRICS nations’ achievements and commitment to inspiring significant changes in the world for the betterment of people.

The XV BRICS Summit Cultural Performance and State Banquet embodied the spirit of unity, diversity, and shared progress that defines the BRICS nations. The event served as a potent reminder that through partnership, diverse cultures can come together to construct a more inclusive, prosperous world for all.
