The City’s Human Settlements Roadshow is an initiative designed to address the human settlement needs of residents across the metro. This proactive approach to community engagement demonstrates the City’s commitment to fostering trust and enhancing the lives of its residents.
The roadshow recently embarked on its journey to visit various areas, starting with Kensington today and Philippi next week. It has already brought assistance to residents of Kuils River, Langa, Morningstar, and Westlake. The tour plans to cover Philippi, Gugulethu, Crossroads, and Mamre, with more areas being added to the itinerary in the coming weeks.
Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Carl Pophaim, expresses his enthusiasm for the roadshow, emphasizing the importance of face-to-face interactions as a way to foster trust and ensure effective delivery of services. Pophaim has nearly five years of experience working on the Portfolio Committee and is now eager to engage directly with communities.
The roadshow’s primary aim is to assist residents with a wide range of human settlement-related issues. These include title deeds (both new and historical), C3 notifications, specific project inquiries, Housing Needs Register applications, tenancy management, affordable housing enquiries, and informal settlement queries.
Residents can expect to find knowledgeable Human Settlements staff members at various locations, such as civic centers and multipurpose halls, during the roadshow’s visits. For those unable to attend the roadshow events, there are alternative ways to access information and assistance. The schedule for the upcoming roadshow events is as follows:
Residents can also visit a City Housing Office, contact the City’s Call Centre at 021 444 0333, send a WhatsApp message to 064 299 9927, or visit the official website at www.capetown.gov.za.
With this comprehensive approach to community engagement, the City’s Human Settlements Roadshow is poised to make a lasting impact on the lives of its residents. By addressing human settlement needs directly and fostering open communication, the City demonstrates its dedication to building an inclusive, thriving community for all its inhabitants.
