In a positive turn of events, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department’s (EMPD) specialized task team arrested a 36-year-old male suspect in Putfontein with R1.2 million worth of goods in his possession.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, 14 March 2023, at 9.50 am, and thanks to the swift action of the EMPD, the truck containing Simba chips has been recovered.
According to the EMPD spokesperson Ignatius Maphike, the police received a tip-off from a trucking company. As a result, the Isuzu truck that was allegedly hijacked in the Elandsfontein area was found.
The premises where the suspect was from was thoroughly searched, and additional crates of chips were uncovered.
The chips have subsequently been returned to their rightful owner.
This convenient operation demonstrates the effectiveness of the EMPD’s specialized task team.
