Percy Tau, the South African international football player, has impressed fans worldwide with his outstanding performances for Egyptian club Al Ahly this season. The 27-year-old forward has been consistent in his form, scoring four goals in the CAF Champions League games, making him a hot property in the transfer market.
Tau moved somewhat unexpectedly to Al Ahly from English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion for the 2021/22 season under a three-year contract. With just one season left in his contract, Tau is ideally placed to be picked up by more prestigious clubs. However, if they cannot agree on new terms, Al Ahly might have to sell him soon to avoid losing him for free once his contract expires.
According to FARPost, Dutch Eredivisie side FC Utrecht has shown interest in Tau. They have contacted his management to evaluate the chance of a potential move. Nevertheless, Al Ahly is reportedly reluctant to let go of their star player. They are pretty satisfied with his performance for the team. The report suggests that Tau may entertain the idea of a move after the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), given that he will only have six months left on his contract.
Other clubs monitoring Tau’s situation besides FC Utrecht, including his former team, Anderlecht in Belgium, Danish team Brøndby IF, Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, English club Burnley, and South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns. In January, Sundowns rejected a bid for Tau, indicating his high demand and value in the football world.
Percy Tau remains a focal point of attention and interest among various clubs as he continues to put forth impressive performances. His high demand increases the likelihood of a high-profile move for the talented forward shortly. However, only time will tell which club will successfully secure Tau’s services, as many wait in anticipation for the next chapter in his promising career.
