South African comedian, Schalk Bezuidenhout, is set to bring his unique humor to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland this August. The renowned comedian will perform from the 2nd until the 27th of August, promising to engage and entertain both South African expatriates and locals.
Upon arriving in Edinburgh, Schalk humorously contrasted his homeland’s famous drink, Castle, with the city’s majestic castles. His fans welcomed him warmly, offering recommendations and friendly advice. Some even suggested he try drinking Castle inside one of Edinburgh’s iconic fortresses.
Locals encouraged Schalk to indulge in some Scottish delicacies, such as shortbread and haggis. Some fans even recommended trying “battered haggis sausage from the Chippy,” which they described as “blerry delicious.”
As excitement for Schalk’s show, ‘Keeping Up,’ grows, some fans have pleaded with him to extend his tour to other UK cities, such as Newcastle and Bristol, where South African expatriates also reside. One dedicated fan even offered their home as accommodation should Schalk decide to perform in Bristol.
‘Keeping Up’ will take place at the Sportsman in Gilded Balloon, with performances scheduled for 17:00 each day throughout the festival. Tickets are available for purchase on Schalk’s website.
