South African netball players Refiloe Nketsa and Elmeré van der Berg have joined forces with global sports brand Puma in preparation for the 2023 Netball World Cup. Puma is dedicated to supporting and empowering women in sports and has enlisted the help of the talented duo to help achieve this goal. Both Nketsa and van der Berg have been named in the final squad for the SPAR Proteas by coach Norma Plummer, alongside other Puma family members Bongi Msomi, Khanyisa Chawane, and Shadine van der Merwe.
The South African national team, featuring the talented Nketsa and van der Berg, is gearing up to compete in the Vitality Netball World Cup hosted in Cape Town next month. This marks a significant moment in netball history as it is the first time the tournament is being held on the African continent. Van der Berg expressed her excitement about playing in front of friends and family, while Nketsa is thrilled to be part of the World Cup squad.
Van der Berg credits her coaches for bringing out the best in each player, highlighting the importance of faith, commitment, unity, endurance, and giving their all to achieve success. Her proudest achievements include reaching the semi-final in the Varsity Cup against Kovsies and winning the African Cup in 2021. Nketsa, on the other hand, enjoys thriving under pressure and outsmarting her opponents as a defender. She admires Puma’s attention to detail in their designs and appreciates how the brand represents South Africa on a global stage.
As the Netball World Cup approaches, Nketsa and van der Berg, along with their Puma teammates, are poised to represent their country on the international stage. Through their partnership with Puma, they are not only showcasing their exceptional talent but also highlighting the growing support for women in sports. Fans and spectators are eagerly anticipating the upcoming tournament, where South Africa’s finest netball stars will take center stage.
