Spanish Grand Prix: Brad Binder Takes Second Victory of Season in MotoGP Sprint Race

South African rider Brad Binder claimed his second victory of the season in the MotoGP Sprint race during the Spanish Grand Prix in Jerez. Despite the highest track temperatures of the season, all three Red Bull Factory KTM riders showed remarkable pace.

Aleix Espargaro Starts Strong

Aleix Espargaro started from pole position for the first time since last season and made a good start. However, Espargaro was eventually passed by Jack Miller and Brad Binder. Francesco Bagnaia then overtook Espargaro for third place.

Pileup Red-Flags the Race

The race was red-flagged due to a massive pileup involving championship leader Marco Bezzecchi, Franco Morbidelli, and Alex Marquez.

Binder Leads KTMs in Restart

During the restart, Binder led the KTMs once more, while Miller narrowed the gap between himself and Espargaro to secure second place. Jorge Martin launched his Prima Pramac Racing Ducati up the inside of Miller to steal second from the Australian. With two laps to go in the 11-lap race, Binder had extended his lead over the riders scuffling for positions behind him.

Binder Claims Victory

In the end, Binder won the Sprint race with a lead of 0.428 seconds over Bagnaia, who seized second place after Miller ran slightly wide on the final lap. Martin and Miguel Oliveira finished fourth and fifth, respectively, with wild-card Dani Pedrosa taking sixth. All three KTM riders finished in the top six.

Binder Proves He’s a Force to Be Reckoned With

Binder’s victory is a testament to his skill and determination, proving he’s a force to be reckoned with in the MotoGP championship. Fans can look forward to many more thrilling performances from him in the future. The main race taking place on Sunday promises to be another exciting one, and Binder and his KTM teammates are likely to be in contention for a podium finish. With many more Sprint races to come, the season is shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable yet.
