Springboks Revamp Squad Ahead of Rugby World Cup Warm-Up Match

Disappointing Performance in Rugby Championship

South Africa’s national rugby team, the Springboks, experienced a lackluster performance in their final Rugby Championship match against Argentina at Ellis Park. Although they managed a narrow 22-21 victory over Michael Cheek’s Argentina, the team concluded their 2023 Rugby Championship campaign in less than ideal fashion.

Squad for Rugby World Cup Warm-Up Match

To prepare for the upcoming match in Argentina, head coach Jacques Nienaber has chosen a squad primarily consisting of World Cup hopefuls while giving the majority of the first-choice players a chance to rest. Among those rested are Siya Kolisi, Handre Pollard, and Grant Williams, all of whom are currently dealing with injuries. The Springboks have also released Elton Jantjies, who is not part of the traveling squad or the group of rested players.
