Successful Rescue of Abducted Infant in Soweto

The South African Police Service (SAPS) Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has demonstrated their swift and efficient work by rescuing a four-month-old baby boy who was abducted from his home in Dobsonville, Soweto. The infant was reunited with his family within 24 hours of his kidnapping, unharmed and in good health.

Abduction and Police Action

On Tuesday afternoon, June 6, 2023, the kidnapping was reported and SAPS immediately formed a search party, calling in specialized units to locate the infant and his kidnappers.

Safe Return of Infant

The SAPS located the baby in the Roodepoort mining area on the same night, just after 11:00 PM. Once the infant was discovered, he was taken to a nearby health facility for a thorough medical examination and later joyfully reunited with his parents.

Criminals Remain at Large

Although the infant was safely returned, those responsible for the abduction are still at large. The suspected criminals managed to escape when the police closed in on the Roodepoort mining area. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the group and bring them to justice.

Citizens are urged to report any knowledge or insights to their nearest police station or call the crime stop hotline number on 08600 10111. Public cooperation plays a crucial role in solving such cases, and SAPS is committed to ensuring the safety and security of all members of the community.
