The Ascent of Jordan September: A Rising Star in South African Cycling

In the world of cycling, it is not uncommon for exceptional talents to emerge from humble beginnings. Jordan September, an 18-year-old prodigy from Ocean View, is a testament to this fact. He will represent South Africa at the 2023 Junior World Track Championships in Colombia, South America. Jordan’s story is one of remarkable growth and triumph resulting from his dedication and abilities.

A Humble Beginning

Jordan’s entry into the world of cycling was unplanned. In 2019, he joined the Fresh Start Cycling Club in Ocean View to accompany his brother, who was interested in the sport. Jordan’s initial interest in cycling evolved into a passion, thanks to his brother’s encouragement and his family’s support.

Rapid Growth

The Kinetic Pro Cycling team recognized Jordan’s potential and invited him to join their club in 2020. His coaches, Glen Bonthuys, and Zarina van Schalkwyk, helped him develop his skills, and he quickly rose to prominence. Jordan won several prestigious titles, including the Western Province, Western Cape, South African National, and African Continental championships.

O’Ryan Bruintjies, the director of the Kinetic Pro Cycling team, has admired Jordan’s talent and described him as a true ambassador for South Africa. He expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed to Jordan’s development, including his supportive parents, Anton and Tania September.

Jordan is currently attending Fish Hoek High School, and he lives in Sunnydale. His selection to represent his country at the Junior World Championships in Cali, Colombia, is a testament to his unwavering commitment to the sport. Although he has previously represented South Africa on the international stage, being chosen for the Junior World Championships is a significant achievement.
