The Bitter Divorce Battle of Rapper Emtee and Nicole Chinsamy

The relationship between South African rapper Emtee, also known as Mthembeni Ndevu, and his estranged wife, Nicole Kendall Chinsamy, has taken a turn for the worse as the couple’s divorce progresses. The public scrutiny around their separation has intensified as accusations fly back and forth.

Nicole’s Allegations Against Emtee

Nicole filed a police statement at the Midrand Police Station in Johannesburg, accusing Emtee of drug addiction. The allegations emerged when she opened a case of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH) against Emtee. However, she later withdrew the charges, and the specific drugs she referred to were not mentioned.

Emtee’s Denials

Emtee faced a similar accusation in March of this year but denied it vehemently. He expressed frustration with the rumors of his drug use in a tweet and claimed that he had quit lean, a codeine-based drink. Emtee insisted that he was sober and urged people not to push false narratives. Emtee denied the allegations from his wife when contacted by Sunday World, a South African publication. He reiterated that he was not on drugs and that he did not know what Nicole was talking about.

Unraveling of Their Marriage

The couple’s marriage began to unravel in March when Emtee was arrested for allegedly assaulting Nicole, a claim he denied. However, the couple welcomed their third child in April, and Nicole withdrew the charges a month later. Emtee filed for divorce in May, and since then, their separation has been ugly.

Accusations of Financial Mismanagement

Nicole accused Emtee of financial mismanagement, claiming that he had transferred over R500,000 from their joint trust account, putting their estate at risk of bankruptcy. Emtee reportedly agreed to repay the amount in question. Nicole filed an interdict to force Emtee to repay the money and requested that the trust fund remains untouched until the divorce is final. She also sought to prevent Emtee from taking out loans against their assets, squandering their assets, or depleting their bank account. Additionally, she wanted to ensure that Emtee would not sell shares in Africa Trap Movement, as she believes she is entitled to the assets.

Legal Matters

Court documents revealed that the couple got married in community of property in 2019. Nicole admitted she does not know the exact value of Emtee’s shares, stakes, or assets in Emtee Records and African Trap Movement. She reportedly owns no significant assets, except for a laptop, cellphone, jewelry, and clothing, which are estimated to be worth around R100,000.

The Fallout

As the divorce battle rages on, Emtee and Nicole continue to face the harsh reality of dissolving their marriage. The hopes of a peaceful resolution seem to fade away as the public remains captivated by the drama.
