Located beneath the popular Grub & Vine bistro on Bree Street, The Blue Room is a jazz club and cocktail lounge that is a magnet for live music lovers in Cape Town. The club showcases some of the country’s top jazz, soul, and blues performers in a space that evokes the atmosphere of a secret speakeasy. With raw brick and blue walls, a curvy wooden ceiling, and leather seating, The Blue Room provides an intimate and cozy ambiance, enhanced by candlelight, mirrors, and a sophisticated menu.

Saturday Jazz Brunch

The Blue Room’s Saturday Jazz Brunch is the perfect way to ease into the weekend. It features a delectable menu, with bottomless bubbly from Graham Beck, or a Bloody Mary and mimosa, if you prefer. The sharing-plates seasonal menu includes delightful dishes such as ricotta gnocchi, Scotch egg with roasted onion and truffle, grilled sardine with smoked tomato, and Toulouse sausages with BBQ beans. For dessert, you can savor cinnamon churros with chocolate sauce, honey cake with caramelized chocolate cremeux, or a selection of South African cheeses.

From Wednesday to Saturday, The Blue Room transforms into a magical jazz club, where patrons can disappear behind the blue curtains and enjoy sets from some of the most talented jazz, soul, and blues artists around. Sip on one of the special cocktails from the signature menu, and savor small plates while enjoying the show. Some of the artists scheduled to perform this month include the Ayanda Sikade Trio, Amy Williams Quartet, and Lady Felicity and the Trumpets.

The Blue Room boasts an impressive cocktail menu that complements the evening’s entertainment. Try the Culture Spritz, made with Aperol, sparkling brut rose, and pineapple soda; Summer Sun, featuring Albatross vodka, salted grapefruit, absinthe, lemon, and sparkling brut; or the Blue on Bree, with white rum, orange, anise, lime, and soda. You can also sample the Southside on Bree, Apple A Day, The Bree’s Knees, Clover & Blue, King’s Blues, The Manning, and The Stampede.
