The Challenge

The #AnimateCT Challenge is a partnership with some of the most prominent names in animation, allowing the public to enjoy brilliant animations while vying for a grand prize. Participants can visit any of the ten chosen #AnimateCT hotspots in the city to search for QR codes that will enable them to view the animations. These animations feature the ten selected hotspots around Cape Town, including Sea Point Pavillion, Guga S’Thebe Cultural Centre, CTICC 2, Radisson Red, Battery Park, Waterfront Canal, Camps Bay Tidal Pool, Nando’s Kloof Street, Castle of Good Hope, and City Hall.

Experience the Challenge

The #AnimateCT Challenge is perfect for a family day out or a unique date. Alternatively, viewers can watch the animations from the comfort of their homes on the Scene It App website, where they can vote for their favorite spirits. Voting and subscribing for updates could also enter them into a draw for a chance to win an epic prize sponsored by The Heriot. The award is for seven nights each calendar month for one year in one of their self-catering apartments in the heart of Cape Town’s city center.

The Winners

Public voting for the #AnimateCT Challenge will conclude on the 27th of April, while animation and general winners will be announced at the Cape Town International Animation Festival. The festival, part of Comic-Con Cape Town, will take place over the long weekend from the 27th to the 30th of April. The animator winners will be selected according to four categories: the best animation by a student, the best professional animation, the best South African animation, and the best international animation.

Conclusion

The #AnimateCT Challenge provides animators and creators with an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents while discovering the hidden gems of Cape Town. This initiative celebrates creativity, diversity, and the unique perspectives that make Cape Town an exciting place to live and visit. Furthermore, the partnership with prominent names in animation underlines the growing importance of the animation industry in South Africa. It is a sure sign that the country is slowly but surely becoming a hub for animation on the continent.
