On 14th May 2023, the City of Cape Town announced a new initiative aimed at providing convenient access to various city services and assistance from City officials. The initiative includes the deployment of a Mobile Office in Khayelitsha and the Basket of Services at Lentegeur’s Civic Centre.
The Mobile Office will be set up on Tuesday, 16th May 2023, from 09:30 to 13:30 at the Blue Hall, 61 Bekelentloko Street, Town 2, Khayelitsha. On Friday, 19th May 2023, from 09:30 to 15:00, the Basket of Services will be available at the Lentegeur Civic Centre, Merrydale Ave, Lentegeur.
The Basket of Services at Lentegeur’s Civic Centre will feature a number of departments that offer information and assistance on various aspects, such as bursaries, internships, apprenticeships, community involvement, primary healthcare services, traffic and law enforcement services, and job seeker support. The departments include Customer Relations, Human Resources, Social Development, Economic Growth, Health, Safety and Security, and the EPWP.
At the Mobile Office in Khayelitsha, the City’s Customer Relations Department’s mobile team will assist residents in logging queries and service requests electronically. The team’s primary focus is to address non-emergency inquiries, such as rates, sewage, electricity, water, refuse collections, and other account-related concerns. The mobile office team has proven effective in resolving longstanding queries for residents.
Alderman Theresa Uys, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Corporate Services, encourages residents to visit the Mobile Office at the Blue Hall and the Basket of Services at the Civic Centre in Lentegeur. She emphasizes that the staff will be at their service, representing the City’s commitment to bringing services closer to residents and making local government more accessible.
Attendees who intend to use these services or register for programs are kindly requested to bring their ID or municipal accounts to expedite the process.
With the addition of the Mobile Office and Basket of Services, the City of Cape Town shows its dedication to improving the lives of its residents and ensuring that local government services are readily available and accessible to all.
